Residents of RW 01 Rawa Bunga Now Has Proper Toilets

Residents living in RW 01, Rawa Bunga Urban Village, Jatinegara, East Jakarta are very grateful for the availability of communal toilet facilities and septic tanks. As a result, they can now stop defecating in inappropriate places (BABS).

Now I can defecate in a comfortable place

As stated by a resident of RW 01, Rawa Bunga Urban Village, Sugeng (41), who expressed gratitude to the government.

"I'm so happy because now I can defecate in a comfortable place and not pollute the environment," he expressed, Monday (8/4).

RW 01 Chairwoman, Rawa Bunga Urban Village, Dwi Lestari, admitted that she was very grateful, as the toilets in RT 03, 04, 08, and 10, which have been standing for decades, have now been renovated.

"Thank you, Mr. Mayor. Residents are no longer practicing open defecation because the communal toilets and septic tanks were done on July 31," she explained.

East Jakarta Mayor, Munjirin, stated that on Sunday (8/3), the communal work was held to demolish the toilets in RW 01.

"This cleanup involved 200 personnel assisted by locals," he admitted.

He added this communal septic tank was built to provide residents with access to healthy and environmentally friendly sanitation facilities. It is a follow-up to the Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM) program, specifically the Stop Open Defecation campaign.

"Hopefully, it will improve the health status of the residents and educate them about the importance of healthy and clean living behaviors," he hoped.
